The owners of a Broome County golf course are assessing the damage after the links became the ending point for a wild chase involving an elderly man, sheriff’s deputies and New York State Police.

Authorities say the motorist was speeding on Interstate 81 near Kirkwood, going over 90 miles an hour, before leaving the highway at Exit 1 at around 4 p.m. August 28 and driving through the Golden Oak Golf Course in Windsor.

The half-hour long pursuit ended when the man’s vehicle became disabled but not before greens and fairways were damaged.

The driver’s name was not available.
