One person is now reported to be dead while two others are still recovering from injuries following a rollover crash on Interstate 86 in the Town of Windsor January 28 in which one of the occupants of a sport utility vehicle was ejected and trapped until rescuers lifted the car.

New York State Police now say 19 year old Darien Frias of the Bronx was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.

He died of his injuries January 29.

The driver, 22 year old Andrew Fuerteperez and passenger, 19 year old Samantha Figueroa, both of the Bronx, were taken to Wilson Hospital and have since been released.

The crash happened at about 11:35 on Interstate 86 East just before the Exit 77 off-ramp.

The 2005 Ford Escape drifted off the pavement, left the shoulder then rolled over into a rock ditch.

Frias was a rear-seat passenger while Figueroa rode in the front seat.

The investigation is continuing.
