Broome County Emergency Services officials say over a half dozen residents of the home on Schiller Street were able to get out when fire broke out shortly before 8:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Authorities could not identify just what agency runs the home but it was believed the property had been operated by the Wyoming Conference.

The fire was put out in less than a half hour and residents were able to return to the home.
