Wednesday, June 12th, 2024. a new K9 was welcomed to the Broome County Sheriff's Office. According to Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar and Undersheriff Sam Davis, the new recruit is K9 Cash.

Cash and his handler and partner, Deputy Chuck Louden, have just completed a 10-week, 450-hour K9 handler training at Cedar Creek Kennels in Illinois.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office notes that K9 Cash and Louden concluded their final training and state certification earlier this week, and later in June, Cash will be seen out in the community as a member of the BCSO Law Enforcement Road Patrol division.

K9 Cash is just shy of two years old and is a male German Shepherd. Cash and Deputy Louden have been certified in tracking, handler protection, locating individuals, explosives detection, and other skills.
