Several schools in Pennsylvania started their fall semester August 25, including in Susquehanna and Bradford Counties but the Wayne Highlands School District was not scheduled to start the school year until Monday, August 31st.

The district in Wayne County, in the rugged Pocono Mountain Range, often has its class schedule disrupted by weather-related delays and closings.

The District reports now it has a delay even before the planned beginning of classes, but not due to weather.

Wayne Highlands school year start is being delayed until September 8th since some renovations that had been underway during the summer are not yet complete.

Many schools in New York State are also starting the new school year after Labor Day.
