Waverly Resident Charged in Chemung Kidnapping
A Waverly resident is among four people charged with kidnapping in an incident in Chemung County.
New York State Police say they got a report of a kidnapping in progress involving a vehicle on Interstate 86 in Horseheads June 6 and Chemung County Sheriff’s Deputies located the vehicle nearby on Wygant Road.
New York State Police, Sheriff’s Deputies, and Village of Horseheads Police responded and searched two vehicles.
21-year old Taren Klumpe of Waverly is charged with kidnapping.
22-year-old Brandon Measheaw of Chemung is charged with kidnapping, robbery, five felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
20-year-old Joseph Mahood of Elmira is charged with one count each of kidnapping and robbery and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and 19-year-old Nicholas Gunderman of Chemung is charged with one count each of kidnapping, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
State Police say the victim was located safe and declined medical treatment.
All four suspects were sent to the Chemung County Jail on $75,000 bail.
