Waverly Man Accused of Stealing Vehicles, Breaking into Home and Fleeing Pa. Authorities
A Waverly man is accused in a series of crimes including stealing vehicles and breaking into a home where he stayed for a little bit while being a fugitive from justice.
New York State Police say 36-year-old Chad Soper is accused of trying to steal a truck from a driveway in Apalachin but getting stuck in a rock wall, walking to a Beach Road home, breaking in an hanging out for a few hours and stealing some items before stealing a vehicle from a business near Pennsylvania Avenue. The owner saw his vehicle driving off and called the police who nabbed Soper near the Apalachin Pharmacy on Route 434. Troopers say then they also found he was also wanted in Pennsylvania.
Soper is charged with being a fugitive from justice, felony counts of burglary, grand larceny and attempted grand larceny and misdemeanor petit larceny.
Soper was sent to the Tioga County Jail without bail to await an extradition hearing for the charges he’s wanted on in Pennsylvania.
