Water service is coming back on-line in Endicott and Deposit after electric interruptions from the late-season winter storm overnight Monday, April 19 turned off pumps and filtration systems.

Endicott reported the restarting of the main well April 20 and advised customers to run only the cold water for a couple minutes if they experience discoloration.

Deposit says its water system has been slow coming back on line and residents should continue conserving water.  The state of Emergency in the Village of Deposit has been lifted as, according to Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, the majority of power to the Village had been restored in the afternoon.  The shelter at the Deposit Fire Station was not needed April 20 and closed.

While conditions continue to improve with storm cleanup, residents should still exercise extreme caution while traveling as they may suddenly come across downed trees, limbs or other debris.  No one should ever approach a wire that is down. Always assume a wire is electrical and is live.  Notify authorities immediately.

People still without power need to be careful with alternate heating and power sources.  There has been an increase in emergency calls in the area due to carbon monoxide from generators.  Make sure carbon monoxide detectors have fresh batteries and follow all safety instructions for using generators.  Do not try to heat or cook inside using barbecue grills or other camp stoves.
