700-Resident Student Housing Project Rising in Vestal
Construction is moving ahead rapidly at the site of a planned 700-resident community just south of the Binghamton University campus in Vestal.
Landmark Properties of Georgia is building the 161 "cottage-style" units on the west side of Bunn Hill Road.
The company acquired 44 acres of land for the project from the Kradjian family for $6.8 million in October 2024.
Since then, the once-wooded site has been cleared and transformed with rows of large buildings.
People who live near the massive construction site have complained about noise, dirt and truck traffic.
One Bunn Hill Road resident said it appears crews "can work anytime they want." She said deliveries to the site happen at all hours. She said recently an 18-wheeler made a delivery at 1:30 a.m.
Traffic around the site was restricted for much of the summer while work associated with the project, including installation of a new sewer line, was underway.
Landmark Properties representatives have declined to answer questions about any aspect of the project when contacted by WNBF News.
When a reporter visited the site on Monday, many construction workers were observed completing a wide range of tasks. NYSEG crews were at the site installing electric poles.
Residents are expected to start moving into the Retreat at Bunn Hill next summer.
A leasing office for the project opened on the Vestal Parkway in September.
