Vestal Police Investigating Mysterious Dog Illnesses
Several dogs have gotten sick suddenly in Vestal lately and police are trying to determine whether foul play is involved.
Authorities say complaints regarding mysterious illnesses involving domestic animals have been made to the Vestal police department over the past few weeks.
The incidents have been happening in the southwest section of the town.
Police are urging people who live in the area of Grippen Hill, Knight and Noyes Roads to notify the department if any of their animals experience symptoms that appear to be suspicious or can't be readily explained.
Detective Sergeant Stace Kintner indicated illnesses involving four dogs have been reported over the last month or so.
Kintner said the cases are unusual and police are "trying to rule out any foul play."
Vestal residents are being advised to keep an eye on their pets when they are outside and to report suspicious conditions.
People with information may contact the Vestal police detective division at 607.754.2477.
