Town residents opposed to a large housing development near the Binghamton University campus in Vestal are expected to attend a planning board session.

The board is expected to receive an initial presentation of a 161-unit complex proposed by Landmark Properties of Georgia at its Tuesday evening meeting.

People who live in the area of Bunn Hill and Jensen roads have indicated they are prepared to take legal action to prevent the project from going forward.

A similar plan for the 43-acre site was scrapped less than a year ago in the wake of strong opposition.

Foes of The Retreat at Bunn Hill project have been working to organize in recent weeks. They have indicated they expect a big crowd to attend the planning board session, which is to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Vestal Town Hall.
