Vestal High School Student Killed in Car Crash
Vestal police are investigating a crash early Thanksgiving morning that left a Vestal High School student dead.
Police say they received a call about a crash at around 1:17 a.m. Thursday, November 24 at Clayton Avenue and Lagrange Street.
Officers arriving on the scene found a vehicle had driven off Clayton Avenue and hit a fence.
Police say a passenger in the vehicle had suffered serious injuries in the crash. Responders administered life-sustaining procedures but were unable to save 18-year-old Kadin Abdullah. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There has been no information provided regarding the identity of the driver of the vehicle and authorities did not indicate that anyone else was injured in the crash.
There did not appear to be any other vehicles involved.
The crash site is located south of the Vestal Parkway (Route 434) and east of Front Street, within walking distance of the Clayton Avenue Elementary School and a few blocks from the Vestal High School, where Abdulla was a student.
Abdullah was also a player on the Vestal High School Golden Bears football team.
The Vestal Central School District will have School Resource Officers and counselors available to students, faculty and staff who may need assistance dealing with news of Abdullah's death.
Meanwhile, Town of Vestal Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
