Local hunger abatement work is getting a major boost from the Columbian Financial Group.

The Vestal business has donated close to four tons of food to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse.

CHOW says the donation comes at a critical time as the agency finds difficulty addressing food insecurity during the summer months when there is an increase in need due to the lack of school meal programs.

Organizers of the food collection say Columbian Financial has been donating food for CHOW for the past six years, giving over 14 tons to the effort.
