Dick’s Sporting Goods Expanding, Burlington Moving to Town Square
The Vestal town supervisor says some big changes are in the works for the Town Square Mall.
According to John Schaffer, Dick's Sporting Goods intends to expand at the plaza and the Burlington store now at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City will relocate there.
Schaffer said the sporting goods retailer intends to use the space now occupied by the neighboring Dollar Tree discount store for a major expansion.
The details of the project and when work will get underway were not immediately known. The manager of the Vestal store said he was unable to comment. Representatives of Dick's Sporting Goods at the company's headquarters in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania were unavailable to discuss the plans.
The new Burlington store at the Town Square Mall will be located where an A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts shop had operated. A.C. Moore closed all of its stores about two years ago.
Construction work at the future Burlington store began this month. Several workers were on the job Friday preparing the site.
The manager of the Burlington store at the Oakdale Mall said she could not comment on the upcoming move to Vestal. Corporate representatives did not return a call seeking information.
