United Way of Broome County Campaign Chair on Southern Tier Close Up
It's crunch time for the annual campaign for the United Way of Broome County.
The 2019 campaign chairman, Binghamton University President, Dr. Harvey Stenger appears on the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up to talk about this year's goals and how people can help.
Dr. Stenger says over two dozen agencies are supported through the United Way that has been able to identify specific programs to address the needs of the residents of the area.
One rare aspect of the agency, Stenger says, is that all the donations go into programs since a foundation had been set up decades ago that is able to fund the operational costs of the United Way operations.
While the campaign concludes at the end of June, donations can be made at any time from individuals or the traditional workplace efforts.
Dr. Stenger also says volunteers are currently being signed up to work on annual Day of Caring projects in September.
You can learn more about the United Way of Broome County, how to donate and how to volunteer at www.uwbroome.org.
Southern Tier Close Up is heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. after Joe Stanley and the Law on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
