
Car Accident Triggers Gas Line Rupture In Town Of Union
According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, November 21, 2025, some residents of the Town of Union were temporarily evacuated from their homes.

Members of the Broome County Sheriff's Office responded to an incident where a vehicle crashed into a house and ruptured a natural gas line. The car crashed into a home on Western Heights Boulevard in the Town of Union.

The Sheriff's Deputies who responded found that an 82-year-old female was attempting to back out of a private driveway. She accidentally accelerated forward off the driveway and into an adjacent house, which caused a rupture of a natural gas line.
Safely Securing The Area
Crews from New York State Electric and Gas responded and turned off the gas to that area. According to the Broome County Sheriff's report, residents in the area of the crash were contacted and temporarily evacuated.
Emergency services and utility workers responded and safely removed the driver of the vehicle. She was transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for minor injuries. Broome County Sheriff's Office noted that no charges were filed.
The Endicott Fire Department, Union Center Fire Department, West Corners Fire Department, and the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad assisted the Broome County Sheriff's Office.
