Two Southern Tier Counties Report New COVID Deaths
Delaware and Tioga Counties are reporting new deaths attributed to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a weekly update from Delaware County, Health Department officials said two more residents had died between June 17 and June 24 for a total of 51 fatalities and there had been six new cases of COVID-19 for a total of 2,425.
Tioga County reported no new cases but said another resident had passed away, bringing the County’s pandemic death toll to 80. Tioga County’s pandemic COVID case total stands at 3,905.
Broome County reported two new cases in the Thursday, June 24 update for a total of 18,137. There have been 352 deaths.
Chenango County had two new cases to report for a total of 3,507. There have been 77 lives lost in the county to the pandemic.
Cortland County reports its second day of no new infections of the coronavirus on June 24, maintaining a pandemic case total of 4,588. There have been 64 deaths.
While the number of people lining up to get vaccinated against COVID-19 has slowed dramatically, officials are still attributing the slowing of the number of new cases directly to the number of people who are vaccinated against the deadly virus.
