Two Arrests in a Plot to Murder a Tioga County Assistant D.A.

Two Tioga County residents are accused of plotting with another person to kill a County Assistant District Attorney.

30 year old Ashley Nugent of Candor and 42 year old Russell Towner of Owego are charged with conspiracy, accused of plotting with Nugent’s husband, David Nugent to murder the public official.

Both David Nugent and Towner were incarcerated in the county jail last month.

There have been no charges filed against David Nugent at this point.

Prosecutors have indicated that Ashley had conspired with her husband and Towner concerning raising bail for Towner so he could get out of jail and commit the murder.

There are three assistant district attorneys in Tioga County and the person targeted has not been identified.

Ashley Nugent and Towner were jailed without bail.
