Firefighters were called to an apartment house at 29 Arthur Avenue at around ten minutes to 5 Sunday evening and found fire and heavy smoke coming from the building. A house and a garage behind the Arthur Avenue apartment house on Jackson Avenue also caught fire.

Firefighters were forced to retreat at one point due to the flames and smoke but had the fire out for the most part within an hour.

One person was taken to the hospital for treatment of what was believed to be a minor injury.

The Arthur Avenue building is believed to be a total loss.
