Two-Alarm Fire Damages Houses in Johnson City Neighborhood
A fast-moving blaze ripped through a Johnson City home and damaged a neighboring apartment house.
Authorities say the fire at 13 Elizabeth Street was reported at 12:01 p.m. Thursday. A second alarm was ordered about eight minutes later.
The blaze initially appeared to be centered in the front portion of the house. Flames were shooting from the structure as firefighters arrived.
The roof over a porch collapsed as the fire spread throughout the structure.
Neighbors said they believed everyone who had been inside the house managed to get out safely.
The fire scene was just south of Grand Avenue. Elizabeth Street was closed between Grand and Floral avenues for emergency operations.
Johnson City firefighters were assisted at the scene by units from Binghamton, Endicott and Port Dickinson.
