Transformer Explosion Detours Route 12 Traffic in Norwich, New York
Traffic is expected to be detoured through the morning (May 3) around the scene of a transformer fire in Norwich.

Chenango county Emergency Services officials say the transformer blew at around 9:30 p.m. May 2, bringing down wires, damaging the utility pole and shutting down Traffic on Route 12 between County Road 46 and 32B.
379 New York State Electric and Gas customers in Chenango County were reported to be without power at 5 a.m. May 3.
Authorities said the transformer “just exploded” and heavily damaged the utility pole. There were no reports of injuries.
The NYSEG power outage site indicated most of the customers affected could be restored early in the morning. There is no word on when traffic will be restored on Route 12.
