Town of Maine Man Accused of Possessing Illegal “Ghost Gun”
Broome County sheriff's deputies have confiscated an illegally-made handgun and charged the person who had it with a felony.
Authorities say 30-year-old Kevin Benjamin Jr. of the town of Maine was arrested Thursday. He faces a charge of criminal possession of a firearm.
Investigators say Benjamin was found to be in possession of an illegal gun. The weapon was described as a "ghost gun." That's a firearm that has no serial number or other identifying marks.
According to a sheriff's office news release, Benjamin did not register the gun and does not have a state pistol permit. He was taken into custody and processed on the charge at the sheriff's office in the town of Dickinson.
Benjamin was ordered to appear in Maine town court at a later date.
