A town of Tioga man has been sentenced to seventeen years in prison in connection with the 2013 death of a 39-year-old man.

63-year-old Douglas Every, a real estate agent, had been convicted of first-degree manslaughter last November. He was acquitted on charges of second-degree murder and evidence tampering.

Every was arrested shortly after police were called to his Thorn Hollow Road home. Authorities said Milton Jump was discovered dead in the kitchen of the residence.

Every had claimed he'd stabbed Jump in self-defense during a dispute.

Every was sentenced this morning by Tioga County Judge Gerald Keene.

In addition to the prison time, Keene ordered Every be subjected to five years post-release supervision.
