Tioga Public Health Advises Employee at Family Dollar in Newark Valley COVID-19 Positive

The Tioga County Health Department says it has learned that a positive case of the coronavirus has been associated with the Family Dollar store on North Street in Newark Valley.

An employee working multiple shifts on April 1 and 2^nd may have had contact with the public.  

The Health Department asks anyone who had close contact (within 6 feet) with any employee of the store on those days to call their primary health care provider.

The Public Health Department says residents can seek testing at the Cayuga Medical Center ONLY if they have symptoms. Pre-register online at cayugahealth.org or by calling (607) 319-5708 if they don’t have internet.

People who do not have symptoms are being told to self-quarantine at home for 14 days from the last date you shopped at the Family Dollar; however, you must contact Tioga County Public Health for an official order at (607) 687-8600.

Family Dollar has been directed by their Corporate Office to close for 14 days.
