Authorities have released video of a man and woman who passed a counterfeit $100 bill at a Tioga County business.

Investigators say the crime occurred at the Mirabito Convenience Store on Route 79 in Richford.

The time stamp on the video recording indicates the incident happened shortly after 6 a.m. on May 11.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, the two suspects made a purchase using the bogus currency.

It's believed they have done the same thing at other stores in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania.

Officials say there were cases in which the man and woman were unable to pass a counterfeit bill because clerks used a counterfeit detector pen.

People who recognize the suspects seen in the video may contact the sheriff's office Criminal Investigations Division at 607.687.1010.
