Tioga Downs Re-Closes Hotel as it Waits for State Reopening Guidance
Casinos still aren’t getting guidance from New York State on when they will be able to reopen and that is resulting in a change in plans at Tioga Downs in Nichols.
The Casino Resort had just announced the opening of its hotel and now has stepped back, closing the lodging until it gets a better understanding on what is expected from the state regarding the opening of the rest of the gaming parlor.
Tioga Downs has been hosting harness races without fans but with wagering allowed via video. Casino floors not operated by Native Americans, however remain silent along with other entertainment venues that had expected to be allowed to reopen under Phase-Four.
Tioga Downs and other casinos in the state are still waiting for clearance from Albany after submitting detailed plans for health and safety precautions like sanitizing, social distance and mask-wearing.
PT Clarke’s Restaurant at Tioga Downs is still open weekends.
