Tioga Downs Play it Safe Reopening Plan Moves Slowly Forward
While Tioga Downs Casino is not included in businesses to ease restrictions under phase four of the state’s reopening plans, it is planning to put out the welcome mat at one of the amenities of the property in Tioga County.
The Tioga Downs Hotel is due to open Fridays and Saturdays only as part of the resort’s gradual reopening plan it calls “Play it Safe.”
The horses have been trotting and pacing at the harness track for a few weeks without fans in the stands and restaurant service is resuming. The casino, however, remains closed until further notice.
People have been able to place bets on the ponies remotely but have not been able to wager in the casino or at the slots.

In addition to dining at reduced capacity at PJ Clarke’s Restaurant, entertainment is coming back in the form of music by DJ services.
The resort has drawn up safety plans for reopening the rest of its amenities and is still waiting on further guidance from New York State. Governor Andrew Cuomo has not offered any hint about when a decision on reopening more businesses like the casinos, movie theaters and fitness centers may come.
