The Tioga County Fair gets underway at Marvin Park in Owego.

Fair Committee board member, Jonathan Marks says in addition to work to spruce up the fairgrounds and the painting of the grand stand, new fencing has been installed, the horse performance area has been resurfaced and a new storage building to house sawdust primarily used by 4H has been built.

Marks says organizers have reconfigured the event, reintroducing aspects of what county fairs originated as with an emphasis on agriculture.

Admission is $5 at the gate with children age five and younger free.  All day unlimited ride passes are $10.  Grand stand admission varies based on events scheduled.

The fair runs through July 9.
