The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce is about to turn 100 years old and is the focus of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up March 10 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.

Chamber President and CEO Gwen Kania talks about the recent Spirit of Tioga community awards presented at the Chamber's annual dinner.  Kania says recipients this year got a "Hats Off" for their work in promoting the County, community and area businesses.

Kania says February 16, 2019, the Tioga Chamber will commemorate 100 years of supporting businesses with a Gala celebration.

Kania says while much has changed, Tioga County still takes pride in its bedroom community and rural make up while still promoting and encouraging business development.

A recent job fair in Owego drew over 100 employers who had active, open positions they were looking to fill, exemplifying the continued vibrancy of Tioga's economy, community and employment picture.

Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
