The owner of The Silo Restaurant and Carriage House near Greene has decided to sell the iconic business and related properties.

Gary Kurz, who has operated the restaurant for several decades, said: "I want to retire."

The 67-year-old Kurz said he loves the business and enjoys the people but he's looking forward to relaxing with his wife, who retired earlier this year.

The restaurant on Moran Road in the town of Coventry remains open for indoor dining. Kurz said he's appreciated the support his customers have shown during the challenges related to Covid-19 over the past several months.

The restaurant was built in 1967 and originally was known as "Ye Olde Silo Restaurant." It sustained heavy damage in a May 1985 fire but reopened after repairs were completed.

The restaurant property, along with the Kurz house across the street and 128 acres of land are being offered for $965,000.

Kurz said he wants to sell the business to someone who is interested in continuing to operate it in the manner Silo Restaurant customers have come to expect.
