Those who've been supporting or fighting New York State fracking regulations should soon have a better sense of what path the Cuomo administration intends to pursue regarding shale gas development.

The Department of Environmental Conservation has not indicated whether it will release an updated environmental impact statement this week. Drilling proponents are hoping it will be made public by Wednesday to keep the development of fracking regulations on track.

Those opposed to fracking are insisting that the state should hold off on releasing the final version of proposed rules until there's been a public debate about the health review regarding possible fracking in New York.

Fracking foes are planning additional rallies today to criticize Governor Cuomo's handling of the issue.

One rally is set for late this morning at the governor's Syracuse office. A second rally is scheduled for this afternoon at the Binghamton State Office Building.

Supporters of high-volume hydraulic fracturing gathered in Albany Monday for a showing of the documentary FrackNation.

Proponents of gas development also held a rally in Binghamton last week.
