WICZ, the Binghamton Fox TV affiliate, and a sister station are being acquired by Nexstar Broadcasting Group.

Nexstar has announced it plans to purchase WICZ and WBNP for just over $15 million. WICZ is known to viewers as Fox 40. WBPN is a MyNetwork TV affiliate which bills itself as My 8.

WICZ and WBNP are owned by Stainless Broadcasting Company of Michigan.

The planned sale is subject to regulatory approval, including a review by the Federal Communications Commission.

Nexstar expects the deal to be finalized early next year. The company already owns two other Binghamton TV stations: WIVT, the ABC affiliate, and WBGH, the NBC affiliate.

WIVT and WBGH offices and studios are on Ingraham Hill Road in the town of Binghamton. WICZ and WBPN operations are on the Vestal Parkway East in Vestal.

There's no word on Nexstar's plans for the local television facilities.
