The Binghamton area may soon have another Taco Bell restaurant. It would be the fourth location for the national chain in Broome County.

Haza Bell of Northeast LLC is planning to open a new Taco Bell operation at 1243 Upper Front Street in the town of Chenango.

The restaurant would be built on the site of an abandoned Speedway gas station. Before that, it had operated as a Hess station for many years.

Abdul Tulunay, Taco Bell area coach, said the planned eatery would be similar to other area locations, although it would be the "newest generation" of the popular chain.

Tulunay said Haza Bell is based in Texas. He said the company is one of the largest operators of Taco Bell restaurants in the United States.

Tulunay said if the company obtains necessary approvals for the new location, the restaurant could open by the middle of next year.

The other Taco Bell restaurants in Broome County are located on Upper Court Street in Binghamton, the Vestal Parkway in Vestal and Reynolds Road in Johnson City.

Property records show the Front Street site for the new Taco Bell was sold by Speedway LLC to Lennon & James LLC of California in August 2022 for $375,000.
