Susquehanna Valley and Vestal School District Residents Vote on Capital Projects
A couple of school districts in Broome County are preparing for votes on spending proposals.
Residents in the Susquehanna Valley School District on December 6 will be considering a $29.8-million capital project that looks to address health-safety, instructional and energy maintenance issues at district facilities.
According to the S.V. School District, the project will be financed through a combination of New York State Education building aid, existing debt service and capital reserves and result in no tax increase for the district.
In a news release from the Sabers on Friday, December 2 said the District's state building aid ratio is 87.0% with 98% of the total costs being eligible.

The information released from the district to the media says: "The project will enable extensive work in all four of the district schools and its other facilities:
S.V. officials say if voters approve the project, it will be put out for bid in Fall 2023, with construction slated to begin during the Spring/Summer of 2024, and completion in the Fall/Winter of 2025.
Meanwhile, the Vestal School District is asking voters to approve a $45.4-million capital project plan that also looks to improve health & safety and instructional facilities.

The Vestal capital project vote is Wednesday, December 14 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Vestal Central Junior Building at 201 Main Street.
