Broome Community College students are being warned that they are the targets of a phishing scam that is looking to get their email and password information.

According to the alert, if a student clicks on an email, falsely claiming to be from the IT Department, and they enter their password and username, the scammer could connect and change the victim’s direct deposit information to access funds.

Campus security has not received any reports of anyone falling victim to the scam and they want to keep it that way.

Students are advised not to click on a link that doesn’t have a secure portal.

Whether you are a student or anyone else using a computer, you should never share personal information, including passwords, with anyone.

On the SUNY Broome Community College Campus, anyone getting apparent suspicious emails can contact the SUNY Broome Police.
