Broome County Emergency Services officials say a dog, whose photo was posted all over social media after she was snatched from her yard, has been found, is okay and has been returned to her owner.

1 year old black German Shepherd, Rory was taken from her home on Squires Avenue in the Town of Union at around 7 p.m. February 15 and her tags removed.

The Sheriff’s Department posted Rory’s picture on their website and it was widely shared.

Acting on tips to authorities, Deputies found Rory in Binghamton between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. February 16 and got her back home.

No one has been charged, according to authorities and no other details about where the dog was found and who took her were being made available.

Local law enforcement agencies and dog groups in the Southern tier say there have been a lot of dog snatchings in the region recently and the thieves are not targeting any specific breed.  Owners should keep close tabs on their dogs even if they have just turned them out briefly in a fenced in yard.
