Pennsylvania officials are looking for volunteers to help with a statewide community cleanup campaign.

PennDOT and the Department of Environmental Protection are sponsoring the "Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania" with a number of activities through the end of May.

Last year, six-point-five-million pounds of litter was collected from roads, trails and shorelines in Pennsylvania.  More than 53-hundred events were held in each county of the state with more than 108-thousand people participating.

Those who are already in the Adopt-a-Highway program...cleaning roadsides year-round...are encouraged to help out with the clean-up.
