Sports Betting Opens at Tioga Downs
Get ready to lay your money on the table for upcoming sporting events.
Tioga Downs in Nichols and Rivers Casino in Schenectady are expected to get their licenses to open their sportsbook facilities.
Tioga Downs is looking for a soft opening on July 17 with a ribbon cutting to officially celebrate the FanDuel Sportsbook July 29.
Owner Jeff Gural has been planning for the addition of sports betting for months, taking out some slots at the casino in Tioga County to make way for sports gaming area, which completed construction a few weeks ago.
The del Lago Casino and Resorts Worldwide are still waiting for approval of their licenses. Native American casinos are also being allowed to take wagers on such things as professional football, baseball and basketball. You still cannot bet on college sports.
Betting will only be on-site at the approved licensed casinos. There is still debate over allowing wagering online or on mobile devices.
