Spencer Man Accused of Burglaries, Possession of Stolen Goods
A Tioga County man is facing several felony charges in connection with burglary and vehicle theft investigations.
The Sheriff’s office says 23-year-old Austin Elia of Spencer is charged with burglary, several counts of criminal possession of stolen property and criminal mischief.
He’s accused of breaking into a home in Spencer in early July of this year and stealing items from inside.
Deputies say Elia is also accused of possessing a stolen motor vehicle that was reported taken in Spencer on July 7 and possessing a vehicle and property stolen from an excavating company in Barton. Investigators say Elia is accused of being in possession of the vehicle and property in three separate towns in that incident.
Elia is charged with one felony count each of burglary and grand larceny and criminal mischief in the Spencer home burglary, one felony count of criminal possession of stolen property for the vehicle theft in Spencer and four felony counts of criminal possession of stolen property for the vehicle and property stolen from the Barton excavating company.
He was sent to the Tioga County Jail on $2,900 bail.
