It's the Memorial Day weekend. Yes, it's the unofficial start of the summer season, but while you are enjoying the long weekend, please take the time to remember and honor our fallen soldiers.

So many men and women have given their lives for our freedom. Many have lost a family member or friend while serving our country. I lost an Uncle in the Vietnam War.

On Memorial Day Monday, May 27, 2024, several parades will be in their honor in the Southern Tier. Here's what we know:

The City of Binghamton Memorial Day Parade will begin at the American Legion Post 80, 76 Main Street, and travel east to the Broome County Courthouse, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The Town of Binghamton Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. from the Town of Binghamton Fire Department Station #1 on Hawleytown Road, heading down Saddlemie Road, and ending at the cemetery.
