Area Emergency Services agencies say there again were some slick road conditions for the evening and overnight December 28-29 but improving conditions toward morning.

Salt trucks were out by 4 a.m. again December 29 in Chenango County and some slippery conditions were reported in the higher elevations and outlying areas in Broome County. There have been no reports of major crashes as a result of the weather.

Winter Weather Advisories that were to expire at 4 a.m. were extended into later in the morning but conditions were said to actually be better Wednesday morning around the region than they were for the same time frame on Tuesday.

Warm temperatures are to persist through the end of the week.  New Year’s Eve celebrations, many of which are being held primarily outdoors due to COVID-19 concerns, will be much more pleasant as far as temperatures go, than in many past years.  The lows on Friday night are expected to be well above freezing.
