Convicted Sex Offender Found Hiding in Mt. Upton

A convicted sex offender, who has been on the run for a year, is back in custody after being arrested in Chenango County.

31 year old Kyle DeWolf of Binghamton had been convicted of having sex with a 14 year old Wisconsin girl he had met through social networking and brought to New York in 2008.

He was paroled in 2015 following a 90 month stint in federal prison but allegedly violated several terms of parole in Wisconsin and an arrest warrant was issued December 13.

The Binghamton Regional Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Task Force discovered DeWolf had ties to Chenango County and he was found January 4 hiding in an attic of a home on Route 8 in Mount Upton.

Authorities say they took him into custody after using a Taser on him during a brief standoff.
