Several Homeless After Binghamton West Side Fire
Binghamton firefighters rescued a woman and two children from a burning house on the city's West Side early today.
The fire at 46 Park Street was reported around 5:45 this morning.
Fire department officials say the woman and children scrambled from a bedroom window to a roof as flames spread from the rear portion of the two-story structure.
Other people living in the two-apartment house were able to get out of the building.
It took firefighters nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control.
Investigators with the Binghamton fire marshal's office this afternoon were examining the damaged house to pinpoint the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross was called to assist those left homeless by the fire.
