Fred Akshar, the Republican candidate for the 52nd District New York State Senate seat, was interviewed on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program on Wednesday.

Akshar is facing Democrat Barbara Fiala in a November 3 special election. The winner will fill the Senate seat which had been held for nearly three decades by Thomas Libous. The seat was vacated in July when Libous was convicted of a felony count of lying to the FBI.

Fiala is scheduled to be interviewed Friday morning on Binghamton Now.
