Emergency crews were dispatched to the river near Confluence Park shortly after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

People in the area of the river told authorities they had seen a woman in the area where the Susquehanna meets the Chenango River.

A Binghamton fire department boat was used to search both the north and south sides of the riverbank. Firefighters also kept a close watch on the fast-moving water near Front Street and behind Lourdes Hospital.

Other law enforcement agencies and fire departments were sent to the river west of Binghamton.

The river search was called off at about 1:30 p.m.
