Scranton-Area Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on I81 in Marathon

A Scranton-area man is dead after crashing his motorcycle in the Town of Marathon.

New York State Police say they responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on Interstate 81 south at 10:05 p.m. Friday, May 27 and found a 2022 Harley Davidson smashed into a guiderail.

Troopers later located the body 44-year-old Daniel McPhillips of Throop, Pennsylvania.

The news release from the State Police does not specify how long after getting the call about the crash and finding the motorcycle that Troopers were able to locate McPhillips body or give any details concerning a possible cause of the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
