Fatal Crash on Route 17 East, Vestal is Being Investigated

Broome County Sheriff's Deputies and Vestal Police investigate a fatal crash involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer on State Route 17 eastbound in Vestal May 27.

The crash was reported at 3:49 a.m. Friday, May 27 one mile west of Exit 67 and Emergency Services Dispatchers said the highway was being shut down.

Motorists were detoured at Exit 66 to Route 17C or Route 434 and then directed back on 17 just past the crash at the Route 26 on-ramp for about 7 hours.

Sergeant Chis Streno confirmed the fatality shortly before 9 a.m. Friday but said no other information was available for release.
