WNBF's Roger Neel is preparing to retire from full-time duties at the Binghamton radio station.

Neel announced his plans Monday morning on News Radio 1290 WNBF during First News. His last scheduled daily appearance on the program will be on June 19.

In addition to serving as host of WNBF's morning information program, Neel is the brand manager for the station and for WYOS, CBS Sports Radio 1360 in Binghamton.

Neel grew up in western Pennsylvania, playing football for Slippery Rock High School and at Westminster College. He also spent time broadcasting on WKPS, the college radio station.

After graduating in 1973, he worked at three Pennsylvania radio stations. He was a hockey play-by-play announcer for the Johnstown Jets before he joined WNBF Radio in October 1978, when he was hired for the Broome Dusters broadcasts.

During his time in Binghamton, Neel has been active in supporting many community organizations and activities.

Neel is a member of the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame, the Southern Tier Broadcasters Hall of Fame, and the Slippery Rock High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
