Rochester Men Accused in Tioga County Dollar General Store Robbery
Tioga County Sheriff's officials say two Rochester men are accused in an armed robbery in the Town of Berkshire over the weekend.
Authorities were called at 10:04 p.m. December 12 to the Dollar General on State Route 38 with a report that a man with a handgun stole money from the store safe and property from an employee before fleeing in a vehicle driven by another man.
Sheriff's officials say the suspects' vehicle failed to stop for the Deputy who was in the area, resulting in a brief pursuit.
20-year-old Stephon Augustin and 22-year-old Brazil Downs were arrested after the vehicle crashed.
Augustin and Downs are each charged with two felony counts of robbery and two felony counts of grand larceny.
They were sent to the Tioga County Jail without bail.
The Sheriff's office says the investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
