Rep. Tenney Extends Deadly to Apply for Military Academy Nominations
Area high school students considering a career in the military are getting some additional time to try for a slot in a school like West Point.
The deadline to request a congressional nomination to a U.S. Service academy is being extended. Congresswoman Claudia Tenney says she will take applications from high school juniors and seniors through November 1.
The Republican says there has been a strong interest in applying to the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the U.S. Military Academy.
Congresswoman Tenney can nominate a limit number of students to the academies. Students who are accepted make a commitment to sere in the military for at least five years upon graduation.
